Arizona Beach House

Who says you can't have a beach house in Arizona?
I was born in Cali, but raised in Arizona. Yet, I've always considered myself a true blue "California girl" and have taken an enormous amount of pride in having been born there.
There is something magical that happens as I get closer to the ocean - I can feel it though my entire body as I start looking for the first sliver of water on the horizon. My spirits raise almost as fast as the property values and I'm left with a feeling of tranquility and excitement all blended together that creates a 'beach buzz' that lasts the entire time I'm there. Even when I was young I remember that feeling dissipating on the drive home, almost to the point of depression by the time I hit Arizona desert. I even remember crying as a teenager and having to deal with an emptiness that I didn't encounter when leaving any other vacation destination. I'm convinced this 'feeling'is why my sister brought her newborn twins to our annual beach trip even though her husband couldn't accompany her. Nothing cures postpartum blues like a healthy dose of beach buzz.
Finally, one year during our annual family pilgrimage to California to camp on the beach and play in the ocean, I realized I wanted to feel that 'beach feeling' all year long and I began my quest to give the beach a permanent place in my AZ home.....
